100 Hubs In 30 Days Challenge

in Hubpage Challenge

Yesterday, I did an updated Keyword Academy Review and walked through the steps I would take if I was a new member. I did some research and found that RJ over in the TKA forums there had recently put forth a 100 hubs in 30 days challenge request to see how many people were interested. I along with another bunch of members said we were up for it.

I think the reason RJ put this challenge out there was because a new member had posed a simple question — how many members had been able to duplicate Courts results specifically with hubpages using the methods he taught. I thought it was a fair question because it’s a lot of effort and I think he just wanted to know if it worked. This comes on the heels of an article Court wrote the other day where he updated his earnings from that challenge and it’s now over $4,000.

I was kind of surprised when his question was kind of met with some animosity — unusual for the normally helpful nature of the forum. I haven’t been hanging out there in the forums and I’m guessing he was stirring up some problems in some other ways and the members had grown tired of it.

For me, I was interested in the number of people who had completed the challenge and I didn’t see to many people who had. I think that the reason this is is because people want to put the content on their own site and get full earnings from it. I know that is what I always thought. Might as well put all the work into my own site.

But then, I got to thinking, that for the most part, I have been doing what the keyword academy teaches, but not to the letter. I think that a lot of people who join probably do this. Why? Well, it’s easy to not do everything because doing everything is a lot of work. And work, well- let’s face it, is not much fun. But if you are going to make money online, you’ve got to be willing to put the work in because if you don’t, others will. That’s just the way it works.

In my last post, I suggested that the first thing new members do is complete the 100 hubs in 30 days challenge and rather than just paying that advice lip service, I am going to do my hubpages challenge as well and document it here so people can see the results as well. I don’t believe that I will have the same level of success as Court, but think it will be well worth the effort.

The first reason it’s good to use a platform like hubpages.com is because it already has authority and won’t get sandboxed. Plus, it’s free to get started.

The real key in being successful though is in doing proper keyword research. If you don’t choose your keywords right, you won’t do well no matter what you do.

So, the first step is to be sure and watch the core videos about keyword research and then after you do that you’ll want to make sure that you watch the video Court did on how to make money with hubpages. Once you’ve done that, the next step is write the hubs and then get the backlinks. I’ve broken down the amount of work for the month and it looks as follows.

Pre-challenge Keyword Research

The first step will be keyword research. I’ll need to find what are called 100 green keywords. The other thing I will do is keep them all related so that I can link them together. Fortunately, I’ve done some of this research already. This is one of the main things I learned from joining the Keyword Academy.

Hubpages Content

I will need to write 100 hubs. This will need to be 100 original and helpful articles. I’m going to try and make them as long as possible. I hope to make them over 1000 words long, preferable longer. I’m going to do this because I think it will provide more long tail opportunities to be found through searches. I’m also going to need to put some helpful videos and pictures in too.

Backlinks To Hubs

Once I create the content, that’s only half the equation, the next step is to create articles that link back to my hubs. I’ve calculated based on what Court recommends that I’ll need to write another 200 articles for backlink purposes for these will also need to be original as well. These don’t need to be as long as the hubs, maybe 300-400 word articles.

Daily Activity Required To Complete The Challenge

If you do the math, that means I need to write 300 articles total. About 10 articles a day. But I’m going to break it down a little differently as far as what I need to do.

I need a 100 hubs. Weekly, that is 100/4 weeks or 25 hubs a week. If I work five days a week, then that’s 25/5 days or 5 a day.

I need to 200 articles for backlinks. Weekly that is 200/4 weeks or 50 articles a week. If I work five days a week, then that’s 50/5 or 10 per day.

So on a daily basis, I need to write about 15 articles a day. Five really good ones and ten easier ones.

As you can tell, it’s going to require quite a bit of writing.

If you are wondering how you can do it, don’t worry about the time part, just worry about the number of articles you need to write. Getting them up quickly, means you’ll make money faster. But don’t sit on your hands because you can’t do it in 30 days. Do everything you can and then keep moving forward. I’m not sure that I can do it. We will find out. Check in again soon.

Wow – what a challenge you have set for yourself. I did exactly what you mentioned. I cut some corners. I was very pleased that I was able to complete 100 hubs in 30 days but I admit that I did very little keyword research and minimal backlink work.
I was just happy to complete the challenge in the time frame. I earned money from the hubs but nowwhere near the levels of Court or Ben at makemoneyonlinewithseo.

I wish you good luck with your target of 300 articles within the month and I look forward to reading about the results.

Hey and thanks for an update on your challenge. The work that’s hardest to complete in my opinion is the backlink work. It’s tedious and time consuming. After you’ve created all the content, you’ve got to create more. But in the end, it’s the difference maker. I am curious at how much your hubs generated in revenue if you tracked and are willing to share. Thanks again.

When Court did this a while back, I’m sure he had to invest at least 10-12 hours in keyword research alone. One advantage that you have over him is that you can save yourself a ton of time by just using the new TKA keyword research tool.

Best of luck to you on this – I’ll be real interested to find out how it goes.

Hey Dave,
Yes the new keyword tool will help reduce the time. Keyword research is key and I’ll talk about that soon.

Great to see you coming out for air!
I have been super busy on my 100 sniper sites challenge. It really is a ton of work! Sometimes I don’t know whether all these are worth it but I am too stupid to quit. So, onwards!

Well, I have written a super long comment about my progress on another make money online site that I am enjoy reading during my breaks. Here is the link in case you are interested in reading.

my sniper sites

I slipped over there and read that blog. Keep us posted. The one reason I’ve stayed away from sniper sites is because of racking up domain fees. If you have 100 sniper sites, we are talking at least a grand or more on domain fees, more if you want privacy protection. Can you provide some feedback about that?

That is what I want to find out as well. I have not put up adsense on any of the 4 snipers yet but I have added Amazon products. Within a week, I have already made $10 from one site alone so I think each site can definitely cover its own fees. I will putting up adsense this week and will update the results here as well.

Two side notes I want to share here. Domain names can definitely rank by themselves without backlinks for non competitive niches. I have a couple of domains I bought last Sept with only one post on them. This is before I knew what I was doing so none of these keyword domains are meant to be money makers, at least according to Court’s formula. Guess what, they are all ranking on page one now without any backlinks. I tested one of them which is bring in about 50 people per day with adsense and it is making me $10-$15 per month. This is in contrast to court’s formula which has given this keyword only $2 in value per month. Trial and error my friends!

Second point is that long rambling posts really helps to increase the traffic because of the long tails and these usually will bump your site’s earning potential up. One of my new sniper site is now bringing in about 20-30 people per day despite it being less than a month’s old. Its main keyword is ranked #20 but because of the long posts that I wrote, the number of long tails this site is ranking is quite remarkable. That is considering that I have not started any backlink work at all. I am quite positive that good domains will long posts can earn you quite a bit if you have about 50 of them.

Great info Aaron, what do you consider a long post – over a 1000+, over 2000+ etc?
