OK guys, it’s time to take some massive action with my adsense startup. I got to looking at the calendar and noticed that the month of October is upon us. It’s an excellent time to start a new challenge. Things have been moving along quite nicely and I am ready to try something big for myself for the next month. As those of you have been following my progress already know, I’ve been making small but steady progress and my google adsense earnings have started increasing. The question is what type of challenge should I make for myself. I got to thinking and decided to see if I could take my revenue from around $150 dollars a month to $1000 a month in just 30 days.
Obviously, this is going to take extensive work and I am expecting to allow at least 3 hours a day writing articles and getting backlinks. In addition, since last month’s webinar topic at the Keyword Academy was alternative monetization strategies, I am going to open up my site to some affiliate marketing as I also try to make money with adsense.
I guess what spurred me into making such a lofty goal is today’s screenshot from adsense. Here it is:
Today was my best earning day yet and that’s my monthly total. Also a high for me. Last month, I made $36.20. When I first started to try and make money by targeting adsense keywords, I didn’t think a month like that would come but low and behold there it is. I am hoping to have a $20 day and a $150 month since I have one additional day and a half to go. We’ll see.
In order to succeed at anything, you need a target and you need consistent effort. We are going to see what happens when I mesh that with maximum effort. My plans are for the month are to do two things:
- Add 100 new posts in 30 days
- Keep you up to date each day as I along
Should you challenge yourself? Or, do you just want to sit around lurking in an adsense forum reading about it? It’s time to get busy. If you are going to join me in some sort of challenge for the month of October, tell me about it in the comments.

I’ve always been kind of fond of lurking, so the challenge is 100 posts in 30 days huh? I’m guessing by November 1st since it’s almost October. Why couldn’t it be READ 100 posts in 30 days? How about research 100 keywords in 30 days? LOL Just kidding.
I accept your challenge sir and will meet you on the… at the… ok I really do not know anything about duels or wherever I’m going with that statement so I’ll just leave now.
Bye.
Thou throwest the glove at my feet? I take up the gauntlet.
When I first read you challenge idea a thousand reasosn why ‘this coming month’ wouldn’t work came to mind … then I realized that October is actually much better for me than about 10 of the other 11 months agead, so why wouldn’t I just jump in now and get it going? I more than doubled my AdSesne over the past several months.
While in September, in addition to some out of town trips I have two major eye operations. They are out of the way very successfully now and I see things as I have never seen before, literally.
So $1,000 USD of AdSense income during the official “Google” October? 0001 on 1 October 2009 through 2400 on 31 October 2009, times and dates in the US Pacific time zone.. the official Google times shown at adsense.google.com “Sanitized” Google reports data will provide the official tally.
The other part of the challenge … 100 new posts, we will accept each others word for. I intend to run this challenge/post new articles to about 4 sites (I’ll firm that idea up this evening) and I’m keeping several of them private. I’ll post stats about posts in the sidebar at http://www.talarsystems.com where I will also write about this challenge on a daily basis.
I’m going to wish you the best of luck becuase unlike so many challenges this one is not zero sum … no matter how we do respectively, we both have to gain significantly in both expereince and actual earnings.
So who else will hop in … the odds of winning something are great, the cost of entry can be as little as $0.00 (no reason this can’t be done on one or more Blogger.com blogs), and who is not in a position to be happy with a nice “Christmas Bonus” from Google?
Or will everyone else just watch and read?
Hey I will be following you both in your blog and the Forum. Wonderful challenge! What do you mean 100 posts in 30 days? 100 posts for one site or many sites? Very new at Academy.
@mariane
For this challenge it will be for one site.
@Dave
Good to hear you’ve joined on…great comments let’s get it going!
I will join the challenge as well. You have saw my site. In September, it made about $10. I intend to create 30 posts (one each day targeting a longtail) and then put up 4-5 backlinks to each posts. We will see whether this is enough to push me to the $50 range.
Small target I know, but baby steps are important.
I think you can definitely pull it off. I’ve decided to join the keyword academy (don’t worry, I’ll join through this site). I know it’s sad that I don’t even have $1 in my paypal account, but I have to wait for last month’s eHow earnings to transfer before I can sign up. In the mean time, I’ve been doing a ton of reading, taking advantage of Mark and Court’s freely available info – sounds like they’ve got a pretty freakin’ solid system.
I know I’m still plenty green in this game, but in my opinion, in a few months, if you keep up your current production pace, I think $1000/month is very realistic. As I may have mentioned, I currently have an agenda very similar to yours. I’ve written 35 articles this month. Unfortunately, they haven’t really gotten me anywhere financially, as the whole keyword optimization thing didn’t really click with me until about a week ago. I’m shifting my tactics from screwing around with social media optimization to a more consistent keyword/niche site strategy…I have a ways to go, but you can count me in on your challenge as well…I’ll take the physical challenge!
@Dave
Welcome aboard Dave. Writing content is the step one. If you can write that much, you can succeed. You just have to fine tune things! Keep me posted.
@Aaron,
I’m amazed at what a few links will do. Keep moving forward. That’s the most important thing.
