Adsense Keyword

I thought that I would spend some time talking about my current experiment with my adsense keyword. To bring others up to speed here, I’ve been following the methods put forth at the keyword academy and by Griz here to earn an income with adsense keywords. I’ve started my sites and have seven of them which you can view the progress of in the sidebar. I want to have 700 posts spread out over 7 sites during the next two years. I am doing that by working on doing at least one post a day and getting 4 backlinks to that post at a minimum daily.

At the same time that I am doing that, I was looking at my adsense keyword tool which is really a spreadsheet that I put together that contains my keywords and the dollar potential. One of the keywords has a potential of around $650 for the month. I thought that I would focus on that keyword until I got it to number one. I started this experiment on September 16, 2009. You can find the starting information in this post — How to Make Money with Adsense.

At that time, my home page ranked #364 for the term when I searched for it. Over the last few days, I’ve started building some links to it the usual way and just this past weekend developed a support blog to try and send a link from as well. Today, I searched for the keyword and found out that I am now up to #354 and have made .50 cents off of it. However there was one key development in that my actual post page now appears there which is what I want. Progress made and a lot of the links are not even indexed yet. On a related note, I did check my overall keyword and surprisingly rank number 49 for it. I was surprised. When I first targeted it, the keyword was green but now for some reason it is red. Really red. So, we’ll see. I am higher than I thought I would be. I imagine that it will take some time for the links to kick in and I’ll continue building links for related keywords.

I have got to tell you though, that once you see some google adsense keywords start to pay you’ll get more motivated once you start to see some money come in. That means you need to keep at it. It will happen if you do the following:

  • Write an post targeted to a keyword that pays a fair amount. They don’t have to be top paying adsense keywords. But they need to have traffic and at least have a CPC of a dollar.
  • Get targeted backlinks for the keywords and related keywords.
  • Repeat over and over

If you do this, you will see money come in. Then it’s a matter of building more content and choosing better niches. Choose something you are comfortable writing about at first just to get the mechanics down. With practice you will get better. The sooner you start focusing on content and backlinks, the sooner you’ll be making some money.

Now get out there and get working!

I also am a member of TKA and follow Griz. I actually bounce around on page one of Google from spot 1 to spot 4 with my sites main keyword.

My goal is to get as many of the keywords from each post to the number one position. This takes work and time. One thing that always motivates me is that most people don’t do any linking, so it is easy to pass most of them up with just a little work. Once you get to page one it takes a bit more dedication, but it is worth it.

If you were a scout and were looking for an adsense earning superstar it would be someone who brought the total package. From keyword research to backlinks and for must of the players out there, some of us are weak at some part of the equation. Your site looks great by the way and I love how the adsense is fit into your site. I saw it awhile back and thought that and was reminded of it today. It would seem to have a great clickthrough by the way you have it set up.
