OK. Today, we are going to talk about adsense tips. I checked my adsense account yesterday and made $3.99. I’m over $10.00 for the month so far. That’s cool. I also got my post done and my back links done and posted a maintenance post. Successful day. I guess the one of the best Google adsense tips you can get is to get more pages out there. Rule number one is that the fewer pages you have, the less money you will make. You’ve got to start getting content out there. Whether you write it, or you pay for it.
Over in the sidebar, I’ve put my sites and the number of posts on them. I’ve probably got another 30 or 40 pages with content on them in addition to that. So all told, I’ve got about 70 pages or so. If you remember the formula here that we are taking from Fraser at the keyword academy. It’s a dollar a page expected revenue.
- Expected Monthly Adsense Revenue = # of Pages x $1.00
My expected revenue was $70 dollars last month. I made 36.22. But, a lot of those pages are not backlinked. In fact, I’ve just started this whole backlinking thing. But without any backlinking, other than blog rolls, my sites made just over 50 cents. I expect that number to go up.
This is my own personal adsense tip, but I think that the value of one page is also related to the value of it’s content. The more valuable the content, the more money you stand to make. Quality content will make more money than crap. Original content will make more money than crap. One of the reasons that Griz does so well making money with his pages is that he has provided a tremendous value to his readers. Learn by his example and write content that is thorough and good.
That being said, not every post that Griz writes probably provided the value he wanted to put out there, but he wrote it anyway. I was thinking last night that one road block to a lot of people is the writing. It doesn’t have to be perfect. My grammer here is probably not one hundred percent correct. You might find an error. But, as long as I get my point across and get my message out there, I’m satisfied. Don’t be a perfectionist. You’ll get better with the more writing that you do.
When I first started, I looked for all of the adsense tips and tricks that I could find. Where to put my ads, how to layout my blog. Griz can guide you there. But after awhile, I learned that it doesn’t matter how much you KNOW. What matters is how much you DO. That’s why you’ve got to get yourself a plan of how to get more content up.
You can check out my sidebar now and see that I have listed seven sites with their niches and the number of posts. If you were with me yesterday, you’ll see that I laid out a plan for Mondays. Now, it’s time to lay out a plan for Tuesdays. Here that is:
- Write a post on my financial site (this is the site currently getting 100 posts)
- Get four backlinks
- Write a post on my sleep site
- Get backlinks for it if I have time
- Check my stats
- Check my adsense account
- Work on additional links for my financial site
- Update my posting numbers
Speaking of additional financial links, I’ve been challenging people to exchange content for links by allowing guest posting. I spent some time yesterday working the Keyword Academy forum encouraging people to get more open about linking by making their support system available to others in their niche.
I think another great adsense tip is that you’ve got to put together a vast and broad backlinking strategy. You can if you want create it all by yourself. But an easier way, is to work together and combine networks with people. So, what I did was take a second site, in the financial niche and make it available to anyone who wants a backlink from it. The only payment required is an exchange of space on one of their financial sites.
I’ve had a few people allow me to be a user on their site and I can go in and actually create my post right on their blog for approval. And, they can do the same right in mine. This is a great way to exchange links. You get content and they get a link. I’m looking to extend this offer to as many people as I can find with each niche that I do. Right now, I’ve got the financial site up and running. I’d like to find 40-50 or even more people working the financial niche to participate. Make sure you contact me if you want to get in. The network will be free. Your only payment will be blog space.
Let’s get out there today and write some content and if you have any adsense tips, put them in the comments below.
UPDATE: My first set of tasks I completed today. I wrote a financial article and got four back links.
UPDATE 2: Spent my time doing keyword research for the sleep niche.

Road Warrior, I found your site through Griz’s and I am enjoying watching your progress. But I have to point out something you wrote about in this post – quality writing in posts. Don’t confuse the content on Griz’s MMOLFB site with his money sites. He is trying to help people on MMOLFB, it was not intended to be a money maker. If I remember correctly, Griz points out that the worse you write the more money you make. You want people to find your site, see that it doesn’t meet their needs and hopefully click on an ad to leave the site. Since Griz has learned the hard way not to share his niches, we won’t get to see what his real money sites look like.
Good luck with your sites and I wish you success.
Hey,
My friend and I have a couple of blogs up and running in the retro games niche. We picked this as its something we are both interested in and thought it would be easier and fun to write about. Not sure if there is any money in it the market though!
My question is on getting backlinks. Is it just a case of going to related websites and asking for a link to yours or is there some other method (or many methods) to getting backlinks.
Our ZX Spectrum Games blog is on page 1 of Google for ‘Zx Spectrum Games’ which isn’t too bad – but we’re looking to push it up to the to spot if possible.
All the best with your strategy!
Cheers,
Brian
Interestingly enough, I am on the first page of the search results for the term “super paper mario walkthrough” and am number one for the term in youtube. I did it with my son as an experiment but then found out the keyword itself doesn’t pay alot of money and it’s been neglected every since. Before you talk about backlinks the first thing you need to ask yourself is what keyword are you targeting. You can do this with the adwords keyword tool. Choose the drop option that includes the CPC and you can see what the average bids are for that keyword. I wouldn’t target anything less than a dollar. Once you know the keyword you are targeting, then it’s time to try and rank for that. So, in your case if your term is retro games and you rank well for it, and it pays good, you’d want to get backlinks for the term. The best kind of backlinks are one way links to your site. You can go about that in two ways. One is through article marketing with ezine and others and the other is by getting links from sites relevant to yours using the anchor text you are shooting for (and it’s variations). The other thing I would do is get several blog roll links from relevant sites which it looks like you’ve done that. Whether you get to number one or not depends on the strength of the sites ahead of you. The other thing you can do is go to other sites and create niche sites focused solely on your keyword. You can see an example of how I did this at http://superpapermariowalkthrough.blogspot.com from which I also gave you a blog roll link. Notice how targeted is for the term. With a little content on that site and links to other sites and mine sprinkled in, you can increase your ranking for that term sometimes as well. How many links do you need? It depends on the keyword. Remember also to vary your anchor text that includes variations of your targeted word too.
Hi Road Warrior,
Thanks very much for your advice – I think the CPC for our keywords isn’t that great so maybe being number 1 on google wouldn’t be that profitable anyway!
Its good to see an example of a site that targets a certain keyword – to see how its done correctly.
A BIG thank you for the link from your blog – hopefully that will push us up the rankings.
We will keep plugging away at it and see what comes of it – I think we may also create some more blogs to increase our chances of building a decent income from adsense.
I appreciate your quick response and all your help!!
To your success,
Brian
