Google Adsense Revenue

in Adsense

Well, yesterday was an exciting day because my Google adsense revenue shot up to $18.87 for the day. That’s a record for my sites so I was pleased that I earned that much. I was secretly hoping that I would break $20.00 but I’m sure it’s in my future. I was checking my stats to see where they came from and it was basically one phrase. What was odd was that my ranking for that keyword was still the same it just seemed people were clicking through.

You are going to have some ups and downs with your earnings and just ride them out. I know sometimes that it’s disappointing to see a big goose egg in there but don’t let it get you down. Keep writing and building links.

I have noticed this in particular with Hubpages where the do that google adsense revenue sharing. I have a post on there that is number one when you search for it in google and I’ve gotten a ton of traffic for it. But when it comes to actually clicks. Nada. Maybe two since last Christmas. Meanwhile, a site I own with a similar post has gotten a lot of clicks since then. It made me suspicious of Hubpages because of that and I haven’t done a 100 hub challenge like a lot of people did.

I see a day when my revenue from google adsense will break out as my content ages. You can tell that’s the case when you have a day like I did yesterday. You can see it all coming together and working. Most of what I have done so far as far as backlinks are concerned is just the TKA article directories and some blog rolls. I’ve got a few in post links. So I can’t imagine how backlinking will affect my earnings.

If you remember from yesterday, I put together an experiment where I am targeting just one keyword until I get it ranked number one to see if the potential from the adwords tool is correct. What I did yesterday is make myself a spreadsheet of the keyword and it’s related keywords and started keeping track of all of the links to the page so far.

I was a little frustrated that I can’t post an ezine article right now because I am at 10 submissions and have to get upgraded. If you been around the block a couple of times, you know that it takes an eternity to get articles approved over there. It’s worth the wait. So in the meantime, I went over to a friend’s site and posted an article over there. He has a related site that has nice authority and then posted 4 articles on the keyword academy. Right now, I don’t rank for my keyword and I didn’t get any traffic to the page yesterday.

I have now set up 7 links to the page for various terms and am keeping track of all the links to see how many it actually takes to get to number one. I will keep you posted and have already set a record for my google adsense monthly revenue at $46.30. With so many days left in the month, I should make it to $50 or higher.

What anchor text do you want for this site? I’ve linked to it with a couple of my sites but I am not sure what you are targeting. Think I’ve used adsense and clickbank related terms. Google Adsense Revenue is the biggest thing in your Keyword Cloud thingy. I normally just go with whatever your most recent post is about.

@Fay
Hey thanks for the links. If you link to the home page, just use my site title Working On The Go. If you link to an individual post, use the post title as the anchor text. Thanks again. Let me know if I can return the favor somehow.

Congrats!

I am barely making $1 a dollar. Any tips? My main problem is still with backlinks. I have a nagging feeling that all the links I have gotten from commenting and article submission isn’t having effects.

A question. How many sites contribute to your adsense? For the site that make you the $18, how old is the site? Mine is barely 2 months old so I am wondering age is a factor as well.

Thanks!

Other than a couple of these MMO type sites most of mine are gardening and genealogy related, Don’t think we are a good match. :-) The MMO sites are my “fun” sites and although I pick up a few links here and there I don’t work on it because then it wouldn’t be “fun” anymore.

@Aaron,
Keep at it. I have 16 sites with adsense on them. If you look in the right sidebar towards the bottom, you’ll see information on seven of the sites I am working on. I have about another 30 posts combined on my other sites. Most of the money I made yesterday came from site #1, my financial site which you can see has around 18 posts or so on it. I am slowly fine tuning what I am doing as far as keyword selection. When I first started I knew nothing about keywords and thought the ads would take care of themselves. You need two things. Keywords people search on and searchers coming to your site. Readers won’t cut it. I first started with just writing posts and got some traffic and then I did some blog rolls. Once I got some of those and noticed my traffic really wasn’t improving, I now have started in with backlinks. Probably the best thing, I have found is the keyword academy. If you are not a member there, I encourage you to click here —-> The Keyword Academy.

For one dollar you can gain access. After that it’s a subscription of $33 a month. It’s well worth it. Inside there are some core videos that explain what you need to do. Getting backinks is key and I was confused about it at first, but once you start doing it, it’s really easy.

PS. I am by no means an expert yet. This will be my best month yet though.

Congrats on the $18 day, It will be nice when they start coming regularly.

When I look at the comments here I see the same issue I have been seeing since I started with AdSesne back in 2005. Site traffic and back links have some importance, but they have no where near the importance of the subject and what advertisers pay for the subject.

Financial-related sites are going to do well in today’s world, gardening, genealogy (both great subjects to my mind, but not paying subjects. Great sites to blog about, not so good choices for making AdSense revenue … it doesn’t matter how many back links a site has, there will never be the payout for subjects like that as there would be for say, “mortgage restructuring”. A blog is a blog is a blog, but not so with regards to what ads Google is going to show and what those ads will pay. And off the top of my head I see tons of ClickBank offer that pay more than $10 a sale … way better than the “penny clicks” gardening is going to earn from Google.

Or so Dave opines.
