Congrats on the $18 day, It will be nice when they start coming regularly.

When I look at the comments here I see the same issue I have been seeing since I started with AdSesne back in 2005. Site traffic and back links have some importance, but they have no where near the importance of the subject and what advertisers pay for the subject.

Financial-related sites are going to do well in today's world, gardening, genealogy (both great subjects to my mind, but not paying subjects. Great sites to blog about, not so good choices for making AdSense revenue ... it doesn't matter how many back links a site has, there will never be the payout for subjects like that as there would be for say, "mortgage restructuring". A blog is a blog is a blog, but not so with regards to what ads Google is going to show and what those ads will pay. And off the top of my head I see tons of ClickBank offer that pay more than $10 a sale ... way better than the "penny clicks" gardening is going to earn from Google.

Or so Dave opines.

@Aaron,
Keep at it. I have 16 sites with adsense on them. If you look in the right sidebar towards the bottom, you'll see information on seven of the sites I am working on. I have about another 30 posts combined on my other sites. Most of the money I made yesterday came from site #1, my financial site which you can see has around 18 posts or so on it. I am slowly fine tuning what I am doing as far as keyword selection. When I first started I knew nothing about keywords and thought the ads would take care of themselves. You need two things. Keywords people search on and searchers coming to your site. Readers won't cut it. I first started with just writing posts and got some traffic and then I did some blog rolls. Once I got some of those and noticed my traffic really wasn't improving, I now have started in with backlinks. Probably the best thing, I have found is the keyword academy. If you are not a member there, I encourage you to click here ----> The Keyword Academy.

For one dollar you can gain access. After that it's a subscription of $33 a month. It's well worth it. Inside there are some core videos that explain what you need to do. Getting backinks is key and I was confused about it at first, but once you start doing it, it's really easy.

PS. I am by no means an expert yet. This will be my best month yet though.

Other than a couple of these MMO type sites most of mine are gardening and genealogy related, Don't think we are a good match. :-) The MMO sites are my "fun" sites and although I pick up a few links here and there I don't work on it because then it wouldn't be "fun" anymore.

Congrats!

I am barely making $1 a dollar. Any tips? My main problem is still with backlinks. I have a nagging feeling that all the links I have gotten from commenting and article submission isn't having effects.

A question. How many sites contribute to your adsense? For the site that make you the $18, how old is the site? Mine is barely 2 months old so I am wondering age is a factor as well.

Thanks!

@Fay
Hey thanks for the links. If you link to the home page, just use my site title Working On The Go. If you link to an individual post, use the post title as the anchor text. Thanks again. Let me know if I can return the favor somehow.

What anchor text do you want for this site? I've linked to it with a couple of my sites but I am not sure what you are targeting. Think I've used adsense and clickbank related terms. Google Adsense Revenue is the biggest thing in your Keyword Cloud thingy. I normally just go with whatever your most recent post is about.
