Hey everyone, I’m back again today to talk a little more about my plan for Google adsense. If you haven’t read that you can read it here: The Adsense Startup
OK. Anyway, here’s an update. If you remember from the plan I have laid out, I have established a goal and a plan to get there. I think that’s half the battle. But for most of us, even having a plan, is frustrating, because when we don’t act on that that plan, we get frustrated. That usually leads to inaction. I know I felt it a little yesterday because I put up my first post on this site about my plan and then Grizzly links to it. Talk about even more pressure. I did spend the time necessary to write an article yesterday and get my four backlinks. In addition, I did also mine my statcounter for some of the search traffic and build links to those terms as well. Mission accomplished on day one. I will say that it did take me several hours to break down my subject matter and actual write the article. I had to do some research. I am sure that this will decrease over time as I learn more about my material.
Oh, yeah and here’s my normal routine that I have to break:
- Check my adsense account.
- Check my stats.
- Did Griz write a new post?
- How about the keyword academy forum. Oh maybe there’s a new post in there that will help.
- I should search for some more information. Wow this looks interesting!
- Hey I didn’t know there was a Google adsense blog. Wow! There’s an Unofficial Google Adsense Blog too!
- Rest a little bit. (take a nap)
- Go back to step one.
Whew, and I think I do that like thirty times a day! OK. I even did it while writing this article.
Back to the matter at hand. The thing about reading some of the other experiments I have read, 100 posts in 30 days, etc. Is that it seems pretty daunting and a little overwhelming. I know that I do love to perform my Google adsense login and see money in there, but I do kind of dread the amount of effort it’s going to take to see it increase to an amount that is substantial. I’ve read alot about outsourcing your content and all, but I think that while you can do well with that, until I really know what I’m doing , I’m going to stay away from that. But, if you decide to write all of your own content, it’s going to take you longer to get there. I say so what, consistency at reaching smaller tasks will still get you there. You can be a spectator and a doer at the same time.
There’s one key to consistency in action and that is just focusing on the very next step you have to take. Don’t worry about the overall number of posts or number of sites you need to do. Just focus on the one next step you need to take.
I think the key to Google adsense revenue is a function of the number of keyword targeted pages out there. Just think what one a day will do. At the end of my two year plan, I’d expect at least an average of $1.00 per page per month. In reality, I’ll probably do better but that’s $700 a month I didn’t have and that’s still awesome.
So, I’m going to take a step back organize things a little bit and organize this a little better because I am just rambling. First of all, I have an overall goal.
ADSENSE GOAL
- To have seven niche sites in two years with 700 posts fully backlinked.
Notice that I didn’t put my goal into monetary terms. I have no idea how much money I will make. I am sure if I follow the adsense tips I find on the internet, I’ll certainly make money. My goal is on what I can control. And, I can control that goal.
After that, I’ve broken down my overall goal into seven area or niches or in my case, supersites. But right now, I only have one on the list.
ADSENSE NICHES
- Financial site
If you want to make money with google adsense then you need to choose the right niche. Some pay better than others. You’ll want to use the keyword research tool to help with that.
After that I’ll break niches into actual sites, and list them on another lists called:
ADSENSE SITES
- myfinancialsite.com
At this point, I have to ask myself, what is the very next thing I need to do with my site. It might be that I need to write an article. Or, buy a domain name. Or, update wordpress. Whatever it is, I put it on the following list:
ADSENSE NEXT STEPS
- Write a post on the Google adsense program
- Review my Google adsense account.
- Search for Google adsense secrets
- Check to see if the Google adsense bot came to my site
- Reseach Google adsense alternatives
Once you’ve broken your work down into smaller steps, then focus on that one step and that one step alone. Get the idea. Then the focus is on moving forward.
Yesterday, I had an idea of another keyword I could focus on and I put it on another list called
FUTURE ADSENSE KEYWORDS
- Keyword
When I get around to it, I will review that list at a later time.
I have some articles pending with ezinearticles.com and so I’ve got a pending list:
PENDING ADSENSE ITEMS
- Ezine article
- The keyword academy articles
In addition, I’m going to keep track of my progress to my overall goal and put that in the sidebar. Good luck on your progress. I hope I helped. Just remember to break down your work into smaller babysteps and you’ll be off an running.

Seems to be a popular topic this, I might write up something on some of the advanced flow systems that we use to project manage our professsional development work. I am quite fortunate in that I work in an environment that has been keen to push back the boundaries of work/time management by adopting ideas such as Agile and Japanese queue theory etc. Although sceptical at first I am now sold on the idea, particularly when our development output is perhaps 10 to 20 times higher than previous organisations I’ve worked in!
Breaking down tasks is absolutely the way to go, but further from that you want to start thinking about how those tasks “flow” through your work cycle so that you can start to prioritise work that delivers the maximum value whilst tackling bottlenecks that slow you down. Everything you do should be focused on delivering something that adds to your proposition – else why do it?
There is a whole industry around this kind of time management, but it’s actually pretty simple really. Ironically the most complex systems are often managed with a few post-its stuck on the wall. Hmm, I sense a long blog post brewing within me hehe
