Well, if you haven’t noticed, I haven’t posted in a while and the reason that I haven’t is because my main earning site is in the adsense sandbox. I have to admit that it was a frustrating to see your site humming along quite nicely and then *POOF* it was no where to be found. Rather than put my head down and keep posting (like I should, duh), I decided to take a break. I figured that this is a marathon and not a sprint afterall, and that I might as well step aside abit.
I think that the main frustration for one of my sites is that the main keyword I am targeting (that I got to number 18 for) fell down to like three hundred with some pretty good content on it. Meanwhile, the number one site for the adsense keyword has like 5 pages and hardly any content worth that ranking. What was interesting is that I did pop up for a couple of days during the last month and fell back down again. PLUS, I got a page rank up date to a page rank of two.
My research at the Keyword Academy tells me that a new site with adsense on it experiences this sandbox to weed out the spammers. Legit sites have to go through this as well. I am still indexed and when I get an adsense click, it’s still worth a couple of bucks or so, so I am not smart priced. Rankings for keywords are supposed to mature once your site reaches a year old or so.
The key is to be patient and still be diligent about putting the content on your site. If you are targeting a keyword that makes money, expect it to happen and expect your adsense earnings to nosedive when it does. Ironically, I still made over $50.00 for the month as you can see below.
Now, a while back, I’d been thrilled by this, but after I made over $150 in one month, it seems like a set back.
Anyway, it’s time to get started again. It’s time to take again to take the small steps each day to get content up there to make money with adsense. In my regular career, I am in sales, and one of the main rules I live by is to not make decisions for people. Make offers and let people decide on their own. Don’t decide for them.
It is the same with adsense. You’ve got to get pages out there. Those are your offers to the search engines. Make offers each and everyday and the adsense earnings will grow.
Time to get busy again. Good luck to you in building your adsense account. If you need help, be sure and join the Keyword Academy.

A question I have, and have received dozens of different answers to .. what do you use to determine you rank for a keyword/key phrase. A proprietary Keyword Academy tool, or ???
Hey Dave,
I do one of the following things to check rank:
1. If you are using statcounter, you can see the terms people find you with and click those and it will take you to the google results.
2. I go to either google.com or scroogle.org and put in the search phrase I am targeting. I use advanced search for 100 results at a time and then I search the page for my website name.
Scroogle is preferred from what I hear but don’t know for sure. I’ve seen that their might be other tools but that is how I do it.
One member of the Keyword Academy, suggests that rankings don’t mature until one year, so write and forget it for a year.
Hi Michael
Glad to see that you are still doing ok. Tough luck on the sandbox. Hope you get out of it soon.
Well, my earnings for Oct was close to $50 so my target was reached
New target for Nov is $70. Now, that amount is small because I am taking lots of time to build up my own supporting sites. I am quite tired on relying on ezine and such, and have begin to build my own network. Quite unexpectedly, some of these have gotten good PR updates. If you need any links, just drop me an email : )
@Dave
I used SEO toolbar. There is a icon there called rank checker. It essentially helps you to track all the keywords you want for a particular URL. Best of all, you can saved the file so anytime you want to do a rank check, just open the file and run it.
Great news Aaron. Slow steady progress to improve your sites whether through linking or content is the way to go. I haven’t used SEO toolbar so that is a good tip for the readers. Keep in touch!
Why someone that can’t even make 1K per month in Adsense is building a site about Making money with adsense? God man… stop wasting your time trying to send people to the stupid keyword academy, instead build more sites, write less crap like this blog and may be you can make more than 150 per month.
come on dude… you REALLY can’t pull 1K per month at LEAST????
are u for real?
Hey man,
Good to see you’re back. Like you, I haven’t updated my MMO blog in over a month – I didn’t have much time – I spent last month sweating over a few new sites. They haven’t made much ($15 last month), but I’m gonna keep pushing on, despite my frequent, discouraging adsense account checks.
To anyone reading this, by the way, TKA is great – Roadwarrior isn’t blowing smoke. My goal is to make enough this month to cover the $33 charge…$56.46 ought to do it. Keep keepin’ on, man.
Hey Dave,
Thanks for the comments. Keep at it!
Lol. Thanks Matt.
In my experience new sites tend to bounce around a lot before settling, I wouldn’t worry too much one way or the other during the first 6 months to a year. It seems to me that new sites are just more sensitive to various unknown ranking algorithms and in time it will settle. If this is what “being in the sandbox” means then fair enough. It seems to me that sites can bounce up and down for months, one day it’s there, the next it is not.
All too often I read posts about massive panics and reworks when this happens to a young site. To date, my tactic of doing nothing and waiting, has proved successful. Although always check there isn’t a real problem – like the time my host blocked Googlebot’s IP. Not fun!
I think just keep building back links and you’ll get out of sandbox soon
