Keyword Academy Review

I’ve been a member for awhile now and thought that I would write another keyword academy review. The Keyword Academy is a program set up to teach you how to make money online. I joined last April and so I’ve got some history now with what all goes on there and thought that I would shed some light on it for those of you who aren’t sure if it is legit or a scam or whatever. I think that I found Court and Mark’s site through Grizzly site over at How To Make Money Online for Beginners. While Grizzly teaches you everything you need to know on his free blog, Court and Mark really break it down in more of a step by step methodology. Even as much as I read Griz’s blog, I was still a little clueless about what to do as far as how to get backlinks to my site and how to pick the right keywords. The Keyword Academy takes the mystery out of that which is great.

You can join the keyword academy for $1.00 trial membership. With it, you get full access to everything. The best place to start is with the core videos that tell you how to set up your sites, how to choose keywords as well as how to get backlinks to your content. Seeing walkthroughs in a video format are more than worth the $1.00 you spend and probably tell you all you need to know to make money online.

The real value to me in getting a membership are these benefits:

  • A great forum of people following their methods that are very helpful
  • Almost weekly webinars that are on specific topics as well as question and answers. I’ve asked many questions in these webinars and they have helped me clarify a bunch of stuff.
  • A place to get hundreds and hundreds of backlinks.
  • A keyword tool to help you determine a keywords difficulty.

That being said, I am still starting my adsense empire and lately some of my main money sites have been sandboxed for the time being. My highest month to date was about $150 bucks in a month and in 2009, I made about $500. Working On The Go doesn’t really earn anything in case you wondered.

The biggest drawback to the program is that while anyone can TELL you what to do, only you can actually DO the work. You won’t make money online if you don’t take action. That’s the thing. A lot of people want the easy way out. But, you won’t make money just by signing up.

You’ve got to do three things:

  • Write keyword targeted posts on keywords you can compete on
  • Get backlinks to those posts
  • Repeat as many times as possible

The other thing that makes making money online kind of frustrating is the fact that it could take a year or more for your sites and links to age enough for google to trust you and you start to see the money come in. I’m kind of right there now. I had an initial surge of traffic which really had me flying and lately, I’ve been kind of unmotivated because I have to keep pushing without any tangible results.

SECRET ROADBLOCK: As you know, it’s also sometimes more fun to read about ways to make money online and how to do it than to actually do it.

So, while I am waiting on these things to age a little bit, I thought I would walk you through what I would do if you were thinking about joining the keyword academy from start to finish and use this time to get down back to the basic fundamentals taught by Court, Mark and Griz.

Here we go.

STEP ONE: If you haven’t joined the keyword academy, do that first. It’s only a buck. Once you are a member, you’ll see what a great set of tools they have collected in one place for you to use.

STEP TWO: The next thing I would do after joining is start the Thirty Day Hub Page challenge. I neglected to do that and have decided that I am going to start one starting now. I am going to detail my 30 days here from start to finish. I often thought I shouldn’t create a bunch of hub pages because I wanted to use the content or my own site. (you only get 60% of the impressions on hubpages). But there are a couple of benefits I think to starting with Hubpages. The first is that it is a free platform you can use. Secondly, the site is so huge, you won’t get sandboxed and you can work off of the authority they have already established.

Now, the thing is, that you won’t make money off of a few hubs, you are going to need a bunch of them. Court recently showed his earnings from his challenge from April 2009 to February 2010 and it was $4,000. During that same time, I made around $600 on my own sites and I’ve done well over 100 posts on my sites. I figure I’ll give it a shot.

Personally, I don’t like setting them up. But, I think that while I hope I get results as good as his, I’ll probably more than likely get around $150 bucks a month. We’re going to test it out and document it daily.

STEP THREE: Create a niche site focused on one keyword. Find a keyword you can compete on and develop one site around that one keyword. While you can set up your niche site on blogger.com, it’s at this point, you’ll want to get your own hosting account and your own domain names. After I do the hub challenge, I will then turn my attention to developing a niche site and document it as well and post my results here when I do that.

STEP FOUR: Create a supersite that focuses on tons of keywords. This is what I have been doing from the start and originally skipped steps one, two and three. I think this is why I’ve been in funk for a bit because I went straight to step four. I’ll come back to this later once I’m out of the sandbox.

STEP FIVE: Create an article directory. Through the academy, you can get free content that can bring you content. This project is ongoing and while I think you can make some money by owning an article directory, it won’t be as much as the money you can make in the other steps. I currently own two article directories.

So that’s my review of the keyword academy. If I were joining the keyword academy today, this is how I would use the tools the academy provides. Check back later as I’ll be starting my 100 hubs challenge shortly.

Good to see you getting back to work here. I know the sandbox can be a real PITA, but in my experience, the more you ignore it, the faster it goes away. I am pretty impressed with Court’s hub page results …makes you wonder why everyone worries about the sharing percentage issue … almost all business works on sharing profits, and $4,000 is certainly more than I made in a similar time with my own sites.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly on the sandbox. Gonna do something else to get my mind off of it. The revenue sharing is one of the main reasons that I’d guess that the majority of the people don’t do hubs. For me, my hub experience boils down to about five I’ve created. One of them, I am at number one for the keyword I targeted and it’s had about 2,000 plus visitors (over 1000 plus from google). Net income about $5.00. It made me really question the effectiveness of webpages. That said, I’m gonna bite the bullet and give it a go even though I am not a fan of the hubpage layout editor. The reason — the results Court got are more than I achieved on my own sites kind of like you were saying. Good to hear from you Dave.
