Hey guys. Today is day one of my adsense challenge in making money with adsense. Before I get going here, who else thinks it’s funny that the day I announce my challenge is the exact same day that my site I am working on would go INTO the sandbox. Very, very funny. When I put the challenge up, I was getting well over 100 visitors to my challenge site per day. I haven’t had a search visitor since September 29 at 11:30 or so. Well, I did get one from BING! Yippee.
So, I did some study about the sandbox thing and they were talking about it in the Keyword Academy. By the way, if you are not a member of there, this is my shameless plug to join the keyword academy. Evidently this happens to all new sites just to keep them honest. I think that one of my issues was two many blog roll links because the term I am going after is in my URL and site title. Anyway, I am there. It’s odd that several things converged at one time and this happened. My site went down, I submitted a sitemap to google and started a tiny UAW run. So who knew.
What Google doesn’t tell you about making money with adsense is that they do make you prove yourself. You can’t let it get you down. What I am trying to do now is get them with good original content. In one of my posts today, I wrote about 1300 words added five illustrative pictures and did three walk through videos for one post in particular.
Aside from that last month was very successful. Here is a screenshot from monthly income. Not to shabby. I broke $150 for the month. Here’s the snapshot.
Check out today’s earning’s of $.48. Woohoo!
OK. When this happens to you, you can’t let it get you down. You’ve got to see that this is a marathon. You have to keep moving forward regardless of what your search rankings are.
What I’ve decided to do is to try my best to write really thorough and original content and still continue building links. My content is good so I will eventually come out. The question is when. Until then, I’ll keep you posted and get out there working!

You don’t really thin Google weas reading your blog and put youi onn ce becuase ofthat, do you Michael? My earnings today, the first day of the comtest plummeted, (a whole $4.00) although traffic numbers on the two sites I was really working on before the 1st of the month are normal or even up a little.
Oh well, the only reason I got into this was to a., try to get my butt in gear and do some work instead of ‘reading about work’, and b’, get some traffic built solidly that I wouldn’t have done otherwise. So regardless of how much Google decides to grace me with, I really can’t lose.
It’s a good time for writing articles and doing that other link building work I always shy away from. In my expereince these sandbox trips don’t usually last very long and with the type of work yoy are doing you will likely blast out stronger than ever. In the meantime I am sticking to the old Latin philiosophy, “Illigetamati non Carborundum.”
That is very good for a monthly income. Keep working at it. Thanks for sharing your monthly income with everyone. Greg Ellison
Sandboxed and yet earns $0.48. You put me to shame…
I am been working on the challenge. One day a post targeting a longtail + backlinks to the long tail. It feels good to be doing this as there is a sense that things will really be better after the 30 days.
Btw, my earnings are back so hitting the $50 is a possibility this month. We will see.
$.07 today…I think I’ll just be shooting for 1000 cents this month. Save the $1000 mark for November…give you guys a break.
@Dave…
LOL…..there’s enough for everyone…you don’t have to sacrifice for the team.
@Dave that is a really funny comment.
Got 2 more posts up this morning and 3 backlinks.
Now, going to write 5 more articles for the article directories and get more backlinks.
Another target I am aiming for is to get 5 supports site up and ranked for their long tail keywords.
A busy month ahead.
Yep. There is plenty, believe me plenty, to go around. Don’t quit because of a bad day … or a super typhoon either, which is holding me back a little, but certainly not stopping me.
Don’t let the “Google Dance” get you down. Are you sure you’re sandboxed or just dropped in the SERPs? I had one blog go from #6 in G to #386 overnight. It took a few weeks but it finally reappeared on the 1st page of G. Now it bounces between 6 and 14. Just keep adding new content and building backlinks and Google will bring you back up.
@Randy,
Thanks for the letting me know your experience with this. It’s the first time I’ve been through it so I was kind of surprised!
@Dave,
Let us know you are surviving the weather down there….
@Aaron,
Keep it up! You need content to make money and links to drive traffic. Great plan!
Hi there,
I have just spent so much time looking through your site I can’t even remember how I got here. I have added you to my google reader as I always like to follow those on a money making adventure. I think I had a similar start like you regarding adsense. a few cents here and there and no clue what i was doing. I am so glad that I persevered. I am still learning everyday and am still in the habit of checking my adsense account everyday.
I look forward to reading more about your niche site work and wish you good luck with the $1,000 in 30 days challenge. Sounds scary but, hey anything is possible.
Go for it.
Weather here in the delightful Pinas is… well, delightful. Sun is out, it’s warm and people are drying out. Thanks for asking.
I had no troubles where I live but many did, even just afew mies away … luck of the draw, or luck of the topography to be more exact. Cleaned out my clothes closet ,pantry, extra bed linens closet, etc. and carried the lot to the relief distribution center, bought a couple sacks of rice and dropped them off there too … it’s interesting to see how relief efforts work in what so many term a ‘third-world’ country.
They don’t have a lot of money, but then they aren’t hampered by a FEMA and other self-important agencies that get in the way … every day at lunch time on the TV the president holds live cabinet meetings from borrowed locations in flood affected areas … all are wearing shirtsleeves, but unlike “Brownie” they don’t coordinate color scheme and sleeve length in advance … couldn’t imagine the US holding live, unedited cabinet meetings at a disaster scene no matter which party was in power, so it’s been an interesting lesson in humanity and real-world democracy, not the politically shaped and ‘spun’ version we call democracy back in the US.
@Dave,
Glad you are good and wish the best to those affected. You’re right though, ‘spun’ is correct. No one can think for themselves and that can’t do it collectively either. It’s pathetic.
@Tiptopcat
Thanks for the comments. Your site looks great. Yeah I love watching progress that people make. Especially, real progress that takes its twist and turns. We need to start up our adsense checkers anonymous. Step one…admit we have a problem…;)
